I got this alert from my federal agency today and thought it is good
for everyone to know so they won't be alarmed.

The Federal Protective Service (FPS) National Capital Region is
disseminating this bulletin to advise law enforcement personnel and
federal employees about upcoming construction in Northwest
Washington, DC, that will involve the use of explosive detonations.
This information was provided to OM/SS through the Homeland Security
Operations Center.

On December 27, 2005, construction began on the Chinese Embassy,
which will be located on International Place NW, near the University
of the District of Columbia. The construction will involve explosive
blasting on a periodic basis over the next 45 days. The construction
is being coordinated with the U.S. Department of State, and the
Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) will be notified in advance of
any detonations.

This advisory is designed to alert tenants in this area to the
possibility of controlled explosions in their vicinity during this
period. While this activity is not a threat to Federal buildings or
tenants, it may alarm employees and the general public, resulting in
calls to FPS or MPD.
